Wow is all I can say about this book. It was really good. Make you think about Life and being in a different environment and settings. This book was about 2 women in the music world of maybe 1950’s and 1960’s. The music they sing is Jazz and Blues and they learn the different things of growing up and being an adult. Each character had a different side to them.
When reading this book, it made me think of the importance of life with one of the ladies she had a child. She was trying to go for her dream which is music but also take care of a child. Her not wanting to leave her child behind and kept him going and going in the cold. He was always Sick. She finally got the never to let him go to her family. Then return to see that he had lost his hearing. She got into a depressed Mode thinking that it was all her fault.
Sometimes we have to question ourselves what is more important is it family or is it our dreams? Sometimes it is difficult trying to be in two places at one time. Trying to live a lifestyle that we passionate about. We all need help we all need someone. We have to let someone be there for us. We try so hard to do everything ourselves.
For the Other lady in the book she grew up in the church following her parents and what they wanted. That she wanted something different. She married someone she never knew and was not happy. She just wanted to be free and sing. The different music was in her veins. She let another man touch her and was caught. Everyone looked at her with Sin and shame. The family, church people and more. She moved away and went a different way. Went for the wrong man doing all the wrong things. Just to be free she was so lucky to have friends and others that cared before it got to a point where it was to late to really do what she loves.
Sometimes we look into life thinking what if we did this or tried this. How would we be. We all try new things because we curious of difference and what else it is, we missing. It’s not always greener on the other side. We all need Someone in our life that family member, that friend. I know we all are sinners, we all have downfalls, but we all have to have that support to get back up.
This book showed me two Women trying to find the way in life going through obstacles going through life. Dealing with evil spirits but at the end taking they time to do everything they can to do the right thing and put the right people first.
