Erica
Hello, I am Erica, as a kid, I always thought motorcycles were so cool from the look of them to how they sounded. The louder the better! My childhood friend had a minibike, and I would always ride on the back, even though my parents told me not to, because it was dangerous but for me, it was like an adrenaline rush! I was the girl that was always hanging out with the boys.
At 23 I started dating a guy with a Harley, after riding on the back with him for a few years he said, you should get your own bike. I thought it would be cool to do, but thought it was a crazy idea. At the age of 27, I had a friend win a motorcycle safety course at our local Harley Davidson dealer. She said you should do it. I don’t have any interest, so I took the class. Figuring it would at least make me a better passenger. I was pretty intimidated my first day of class, being in a class with about 10 guys and 1 other girl. The first night of the class was book work, the part of any class I always struggled with. Before going to the range and getting on a motorcycle, A written test was required to be passed first, I thought great, I’ll never get my license because of the written test, well, I got my test back and I got a 100. I was amazed because I didn’t test well. After spending the entire first day on the range learning the friction zone. I was ready to get on that bike and have some fun. I suddenly wasn’t scared or intimidated. I said to myself these guys aren’t going to be able to keep up. After an amazing weekend taking the class, I passed my road test. Bought my 1st bike, a 2007 Honda shadow 600 VLX. I loved riding with my husband, but after a year my little Honda just couldn’t keep up with my husband and his Harley. Getting into the sport has brought me to some beautiful destinations and I have met some amazing people along the way.
