Jury Duty

Jury Duty

I can’t believe that out of all these years I finally got chosen to go to jury duty. We all talk about how we do not want to go to jury duty. I remember when I was younger, I wanted to be a paralegal but when I took some classes and we had to sit in that courthouse half of day just listening to a case I knew right then and there this was not for me.

When I think of jury duty, I think of sitting in court all day listening to someone’s case and one thing that scares me is that you are putting someone’s life into our hands. We have to make a judgement if they are guilty or not. Why that scares me is because nowadays sometimes people choose one thing and then years later, they really were not guilty. That would be on my conscious.

It’s definitely an experience. I am glad I did not get picked to stay through the whole trail and actually be on it. Sitting in that room for 8 hours just waiting and waiting was an experience. It brought back memories to when I had to go into that courtroom when I was younger listening to cases.

I should have mentioned earlier what Jury Duty is – It is service as a juror in a legal proceeding. A grand jury determines whether there is a probable cause to charge someone with a crime.

Let me know if you ever experienced this and what your thoughts on it?
