Q. What’s the first thing most people notice about you? How does that make you feel?
A. I would say my hair they always thinks it’s fake. lol I used to always keep it short but I let it grow out. I love it and don’t mind it.
Q. Does social media negatively affect relationships?
A. I say if you use it for what you need to use it for it shouldn’t. People let social media get in the way by putting their business out there and that’s when it becomes a problem.

Nappy Roots 1-year Anniversary at Atlantucky Brewing
Where: Atlanta, GA
By: Cece Hymes
I had a chance to go and support the Nappy Roots on their one-year anniversary for opening up their Brewing called Atlantucky. Let’s talk a little about Atlantucky. It is a Black-owned brewer in the heart of Atlanta owned by the Nappy Roots. Nappy Roots came out of Kentucky and they put Atlanta and Kentucky together to make Atlantucky. Fish Scales and Skinny DeVille learned about beer and opened their own Brewing.
Every time I go there it has positive vibes and a mixed crowd. I love what they are doing and are still making great music. It is their 1-year anniversary, and they have some special performances to celebrate with them. I got a chance to see Pastor Troy, Fabo and Backbone from the Dungeon Family perform. All the members of Nappy Roots were in the building showing love to everyone.
If you haven’t checked out their spot make sure to check it out. Also, if you love a good beer they have different kinds and are steadily making new flavors for you to try. If you want to have an event, they also rent out one side of the building for events.
So proud of the Nappy Roots and hope they continue to be great and keep pushing out great music. Happy Nappy Anniversary and hope they have many many more. They also have Art shows, Writer room, Game night and many more other things there. Make sure to follow them to keep up with the new beers, music and events.
This is the month of love and we definitely got to give our roses to Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr., what a beautiful couple. They have been together 50 plus years now, that’s couple goals. They both have wonderful voices and have enjoyed many years singing together. They have received 7 Grammy Awards and earned 15 Gold and 3 Platinum records.
They have a book out together that shares their secrets on staying happy and committed to each other in Hollywood. We know that you always have to be friends first. I believe your soulmate is your best friend.
They both love music and share their love and passion together doing what they love. When I see them on stage with smiles and holding each other’s hand that’s where I see true love. I hope they have many many more and to keep on blessing us with their voice and love. Today I want to give them their roses for making it work and showing us power couple goals.
I love to see couples that are still making it. I love “LOVE”. What is something you would love to share about this couple? Also follow me @Cece.Atl.
This book was about a girl named Nikki who goes missing and her brother Jay tries to find her. Nikki and Jay grew up together, their Dad passed away and Mom went to prison so their grandmother had to raise them. They stayed in the projects and tried to make sure they survived.
Jay is a smart kid who got great grades and was trying to make extra money to save up for his grandmother. He would do people’s homework for them and get a job to make extra money. He went to church and one of the girls there always tried talking to him, but he never really looked at her, just seemed annoyed. Nikki was a good kid that started hanging with the wrong crowd. She ended up getting a boyfriend who hustled. Then they get into it at a party, and she goes missing. Nikki also has a friend named Kenny who goes missing the same day.
Nikki called her brother one night and he thought she was drunk and calling. Next thing you know she is missing and Jay and the girl from church try to find clues to find Nikki and hope that she is not dead. They know the type of boyfriend she has and think of the worst. As they put clues together they go through a lot of hurdles and every clue seems to end up with nothing. Jay is at the point of giving up and just really thinking she is dead and starts to push away the friend that really wants the best for him.
In today’s world kids go missing every day and it seems like the cops are no help. Like they do the bare minimum. Jay could get stubborn at times, not letting anyone help him in finding his sister and take matters in his own hands. It’s like he is the one that takes care of everyone and makes sure they are good.
Now Riley was the girl from church that I told you about earlier, now I loved her in this book. It was like she was a good girl but wanted to really be there for Jay. She saw him for who he was and wanted to help his family. She did things just to try to save them. She was very selfless, caring, and funny. Good people like that are hard to find these days.
I don’t want to give up the ending, you have to read it and see. If you have already read the book let me know your thoughts. Also make sure to follow Cece Book Club on IG and Facebook.
This is the month of love and we definitely got to give our roses to Debbie and Norm. They have been together for 36 years or more. I love to see lasting couples. Debbie Allen is an actress and Norm Nixon is a former NBA player. I love to see how they look at each other and when they dance they have smiles of true love.
Debbie always writes sweet things one post I seen for her 36 year anniversary was:
“Happy Anniversary to the love of my life, Norm,” So thankful to have you as my forever dance partner. 36 years and counting, baby!”
These are definitely couple goals. I hope they have many many more and nothing but love and happiness. A powerful couple who deserves their roses today.
I love to see couples that are still making it. I love “LOVE”. What is something you would love to share about this couple? Also follow me @Cece.Atl.
A. God in Me by Mary Mary when I hear that it lifts me up every time.
Q. How would you feel if your spouse left you to be in a same sex marriage?
A. I would be sad and mad especially if we had been together for years. Rather it’s the same sex or not that would be hurtful. I would be going back to see why I didn’t see any signs or what made my spouse go that way. Just a lot of pain and questions to be asked.
