  • Netflix Review: Forever — A Raw, Real, and Emotional Journey Through Young Love

I recently had the chance to watch Forever on Netflix, and let me tell you—this series took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. It follows two teens, Justin and Keisha, who fall deeply for each other and go through all the highs, lows, and in-betweens of young love. Despite the chaos that life throws their way, they keep finding their way back to one another. That alone gave the show a beautiful “meant-to-be” energy I couldn’t look away from.

What stood out to me most was their honesty. Even when it hurt, they said what was on their hearts. That type of emotional vulnerability between friends-turned-lovers isn’t something you see often, especially portrayed this raw and real.

Justin, struggling to figure out life, reminded me of so many teens (and honestly, adults too) who just need a little push—and a solid village—to guide them. He had a loving two-parent household, yet he still carried the weight of not wanting to let his parents down. Sometimes parents don’t realize the pressure they unknowingly put on their kids to be perfect, and Forever really nailed that dynamic.

Keisha’s story hit me hard, too. Her mom worked two jobs just to keep her in school and give her a chance at a better future. Her dad showed love in his own, flawed way—but at the end of the day, their love for her was there. Her strength and determination to push through life’s rough patches made me root for her every step of the way.

There were emotional moments, tough conversations, and yes—a little suspense. But beneath it all, Forever was about love. The love between partners, the love of family, and the love of a community trying its best to support its own.

The series also reminded me that teens go through just as much as adults. They’re navigating emotions, expectations, and the struggle to define themselves in a complicated world. That’s why having a village—family, friends, people who truly care—is so important.

I loved this Netflix gem and honestly can’t wait for Season 2. If you’ve watched it, drop your thoughts below. And if you haven’t—go hit play, then come back and let’s chat. 💬🍿

  • Nonnas: A Taste of Love, Loss, and Legacy

Hey Hey — Cece On the Scenes!

Y’all already know I have a soft spot for films based on true stories, and I just watched one that tugged at my heartstrings. It’s called Nonnas, and yes — it’s inspired by the real story of Enoteca Maria, a unique restaurant that started right on Staten Island.

The film follows a man who, after losing his beloved mother, finds himself drifting through grief. With what little money he had, he made a bold move — opening a restaurant. But not just any restaurant. He brought in a group of older women, “nonnas,” to cook just like grandmothers do — real, soulful, homemade meals that feel like a warm hug.

Of course, the kitchen wasn’t always smooth sailing. These ladies had their fair share of personality clashes and dramatic moments, but it was all part of the journey. What truly moved me was his intention — to recreate the love, warmth, and legacy of his mother through food. And let’s not forget his best friend who stood by him through thick and thin. That loyalty? Beautiful.

This film hit me hard — made me think of my own mother and grandmother, and had me in my feelings the whole time. It’s a story of love, legacy, and the healing power of food. With Mother’s Day just passing, the timing of this release is perfect. I give Nonnas a heartfelt 4 out of 5 stars.

Grab your tissues and go check it out. And as always, stay tuned and follow Cece On the Scenes for more film gems and soulful stories.

  • 🎬 Movie Night Madness: Havoc Brought the Heat!

Starring Tom Hardy, Jessie Mei Li, Timothy Olyphant, and Forest Whitaker
    Rated: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Okay, listen up, action lovers—Havoc on Netflix is not one to sleep on. I finally carved out some time to watch it after my dad told me, “You’ve gotta check this one out.” And when my dad recommends something, especially an action flick, I listen. He knows his stuff.

Let me tell you—Tom Hardy does not disappoint (when does he ever?). From gritty alley chases to hand-to-hand combat that’ll make you tense up in your seat, Havoc brings the kind of chaotic energy that action fans live for. Jessie Mei Li held her own, Timothy Olyphant was smooth but dangerous, and Forest Whitaker gave it that veteran intensity we love to see.

I gave it a solid 4 out of 5 stars. Why not 5? Well, I’m a tough critic when it comes to story flow—but the action sequences? Top tier. There’s something satisfying about a movie that doesn’t waste time getting to the grit, and Havoc dives right into the mess. It’s raw, it’s fast-paced, and it’s got just enough heart to keep you locked in.

After I finished it, I immediately texted my daughter and said, “You HAVE to watch this.” Guess what? She did—and yep, she agreed. We both said, “Now that’s how you do action.”

So, if you’re like me and love a good, gritty, adrenaline-pumping movie that keeps you glued to the screen, do yourself a favor and check out Havoc on Netflix. Get your popcorn, turn the volume up, and buckle in.

Now tell me—have you seen Havoc yet? What’s your favorite Tom Hardy role so far? Drop it in the comments! 🎥🍿

  • A Mother’s Day Message from the Heart

Today, I want to send the warmest wishes to all the incredible mothers out there—Happy Mother’s Day! Being a mom isn’t always easy, but today is your day to be celebrated, appreciated, and loved. You deserve every bit of joy and recognition.

I especially want to take a moment to honor two phenomenal women who shaped me—my mom and my grandma. Happy Heavenly Mother’s Day to both of you. I miss you deeply, every single day. Your love, strength, and wisdom continue to guide me, and it’s because of you that I walk through life empowered and resilient.

To those who, like me, carry the bittersweet weight of missing their mothers today—my heart is with you. Know that they are still with us, watching over us, whispering love through the winds and raindrops.

Usually, this time of year brings a wave of sadness for me. But today, I’m choosing joy. I’m choosing gratitude. I’m choosing to celebrate. Rain or shine, I’ll be grabbing my balloons and heading out to release them in their honor. It may be a rainy day, but it won’t dim the light in my heart—or stop me from grabbing a bite to eat and making memories in their name.

To every woman who’s ever nurtured, comforted, guided, or loved like a mom—this is your day. Know that you are appreciated, deeply loved, and never alone.

    Happy Mother’s Day, queens. 💐

  • Book Review: P.S. I Hate You by Lauren Connolly — A Journey of Grief, Love, and Rediscovery

I recently had the pleasure of diving into P.S. I Hate You by Lauren Connolly, and let me just say—this book took me on an emotional rollercoaster in the best possible way. It’s one of those stories that lingers with you long after the last page.

At its heart, the novel follows a woman grieving the loss of her brother. But her healing begins with a heartfelt letter he left behind—a request for her and his best friend to embark on a road trip to the final eight states he dreamed of visiting. Along the way, they’re tasked with scattering his ashes and honoring his memory. What unfolds is a beautiful, bittersweet adventure of healing, exploration, and unexpected love.

The travel element had me hooked. There’s something magical about stepping outside your comfort zone and discovering the world—and yourself—in the process. This book reminded me how life itself can feel like a scavenger hunt: full of hidden lessons, surprising turns, and moments that take your breath away.

What truly pulled on my heartstrings was the emotional depth between the two main characters. Imagine being in love with someone for years but not being able to be with them—for reasons that life, timing, or circumstances created. And then, just when you’ve settled into the idea of “what could’ve been,” you reconnect. That kind of love—the soul-stirring, “meant-to-be” kind—we all deserve that.

This book is a reminder of the power of love, communication, and facing your fears head-on. It made me think deeply about life, second chances, and how important it is to not run away from the hard stuff, but to embrace it.

If you’re into emotional reads, heartfelt journeys, and stories that blend love with loss and adventure, I highly recommend you pick up P.S. I Hate You. It’s more than a romance—it’s a journey of the heart.

  • Movie Gem Alert: Exterritorial on Netflix

Y’all know I’m always blogging about books, entertainment, travel, hidden gems, and movies—and today, I’ve got one that had me glued to the screen with popcorn in one hand and emotions in the other.

I just watched Exterritorial on Netflix, and whew—if you love action-packed movies with a twist of mystery and emotion, this one’s for you. Now listen, I love a good action movie. Explosions? Yes. Intense chase scenes? Absolutely. But if there’s one thing I hate, it’s seeing women hurt or dismissed—especially moms.

This film follows a mother who’s desperately searching for her missing little boy. And let me tell you, her mama bear energy is unmatched. But instead of people helping her, they hit her with the “You’re delusional” line. Uh, excuse me?! She knows her child, and she’s not backing down. I won’t spoil whether she’s right or not, but just know—it’ll have you questioning everything until the very end.

Now, did I give it a 5-star rating? Almost! I gave it 4 stars because honestly… what mama in 2025 is leaving her young kid alone with the world being what it is? That part had me side-eyeing the screen. But despite that, she was STRONG, BRAVE, and most importantly—she kicked some serious butt. Like, real “Don’t mess with a mother” vibes. 😂

It’s got action, a strong female lead, a story that pulls at your heart, and just enough suspense to keep you guessing.

So tell me—have you seen it yet? What did you think? Would you have gone as hard as she did for your child?

Let’s talk movies, mama power, and real talk in the comments. 💥🍿💬

  • Hello, May! Let’s Make It Magical

Welcome to the beautiful month of May—may it bring peace, happiness, and joy into your life! There’s something about May that feels like a fresh start, filled with blooming flowers, warmer days, and meaningful celebrations.

We kicked off the month with our latest Cece Book Club discussion on Pretty Baby by Mary Kubica. I gave it a 3 out of 5 stars—definitely a slower burn compared to some of her other works, which I enjoyed more. But that’s the fun of book club—everyone has different takes! If you love psychological thrillers and want to join in on our monthly Zoom chats, come read with us!

We also tried something new: Guayaki Organic Yerba Mate. The flavors we tested were Revel Berry and Bluephoria. A lot of folks enjoyed it for the energy boost, but I’ll be honest—it wasn’t my cup of tea (maybe because it’s organic?). Still, it might be your thing! I always say: you’ll never know until you try it.

As for adventure, last week I hit the trails to Arabia Mountain—and this time, I made it to the top! The view was totally worth the climb. If you’re looking for a scenic hike and a peaceful moment with nature, add it to your list.

This week is full of celebrations! Today is Cinco de Mayo, so if you’re into tacos and tequila, go all in! Mother’s Day is just around the corner—let’s honor all the amazing moms out there. And don’t forget Memorial Day at the end of the month, a time to remember and reflect.

Oh—and I’m running specials this month! If you’re looking to promote your business, product, or blog, reach out to me. Let’s shine a spotlight on your brand!

    Here’s to making May marvelous!

  • A Walk to Clear My Mind at Arabia Mountain

Yesterday, I decided it was time to get out and get some fresh air, so I made my way back to Arabia Mountain in Georgia. This was actually my second time visiting, and while I’m definitely more of a “walking” girl than a hardcore hiker (if you know, you know — lol), I can never resist a beautiful view.

The weather was just perfect — warm, but not too hot — and honestly, it came at the right time. I had a lot on my mind and needed some space to think and breathe. Arabia Mountain is one of those places I always see people posting about, and every time I go, I remember why it’s so loved.

A little fun fact: Arabia Mountain isn’t just a random spot — it’s actually part of a 2,000-acre nature preserve rich with history, unique rock formations, and rare plant life. Walking across its rocky landscape, you can feel a sense of peace and timelessness all around you. It’s like nature’s own therapy session.

My daughter and I made it a mother-daughter outing, walking and talking the whole time — and those conversations are honestly some of my favorite memories. There’s something about being outside, surrounded by nature, that makes the heart open up a little more.

If you’re ever in the area and need a peaceful trail, a scenic spot to think, or just want to enjoy a slice of Georgia’s natural beauty, I definitely recommend checking out Arabia Mountain. Whether you’re a casual walker like me or an adventurous hiker, it’s a place that welcomes you just as you are.
