  • John Madden (Great Memories)

    John Madden

    By: Cece Hymes

John Madden was an American football coach and sportscaster. He won Super Bowl XI as head coach of the Oakland Raiders over the Minnesota Vikings, and after retiring from coaching became a well-known color commentator for NFL telecasts.

Did you know in 2006 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in recognition of his coaching career. He also is known for the long-running Madden NFL video game series. What a gift he was to football. He was definitely the goat for color commentators, he didn’t miss anything.  Some of my favorite quotes by him are:

“Don’t worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon”

    “Self-praise is for losers”

“Well, when you’re playing good football, it’s good football and if you don’t have good football, then you’re not really playing good football”

John Madden has written several books, including the best-selling “Hey, Wait a Minute, I Wrote a Book!” and “One Knee Equals Two Feet”. Make sure to check them out. What was the most memorable moment you have of John Madden? Comment below and let us know. Also follow me @Cece. Atl.

  • Dmx (Great Memories)

    DMX

    By: Cece Hymes

Earl Simmons, known as DMX, was a legend. I got a chance to read his book “E.A.R.L The Autobiography of DMX”. It was a great book, I learned more about his life and journey. Even though he had demons in his head he always would pray. He would give homeless people money; pray for everyone. You could tell he had a big heart. Did you know that he was the first artist to debut an album at No. 1 five times in a row on the Billboard 200 charts? Here are some of the movies he played in:

    ·         Belly, Romeo Must Die

    ·         Exit Wounds

    ·         Cradle 2 the Grave

Some of my favorite songs by him:

    ·         X Gon Give It to Ya

    ·         Ruff Ryders Anthem

    ·         What these Bit**** Want

    ·         Slippin

    ·         Lord Give Me a Sign

    ·         What’s My Name

    ·         Get at Me Dog

DMX was a beast, and he would rap or go against anyone anywhere.  He had a hard childhood and life growing up. He had a big impact on Hip-Hop. Some of his quotes that I liked are:

    ·         “I just find myself happy with the simple things”

    ·         “Anything that’s not positive, I don’t have the energy to focus on it”

    ·         “I know I may have done some bad things, but I’m not a bad person”

Make sure you check out his book, it is really good. What was your favorite moment of DMX? What was your favorite song? Drop a comment below also follow me @Cece.atl

Lips Drag Queen Show Palace, Restaurant & Bar

    Where: Atlanta GA

    By: Cece Hymes

I haven’t been to this place in some years. It was one of my friends’ birthdays so we wanted to go see some entertainment. This is a new place where the Drag Queens entertain with their clothes on lol. More like karaoke.  They offer delicious food, fierce cocktails and great performances. They serve brunches and dinners.

The couple of times I have been it was someone’s birthday. They have a special shout out for the birthday and bachelorette people. It is a little pricey but the food and entertainment is good. I ended up this time getting the shrimp and grits. Which was good.

I had a great time as always. So, if you are looking to do something fun in the Atlanta area check out Lips. Get your homegirls and enjoy a great night. Much laughter. You will not be disappointed.

Let me know the experience you’ve had at Lips? What was one of your greatest moments? Also follow me @cece.atl
