  • Celebrating National Independent Bookstore Day: A Shoutout to Birdsong Books

If you know me, you know I absolutely love books. There’s something magical about getting lost in a good story, flipping through fresh pages, and discovering new favorites.

Today, in honor of National Independent Bookstore Day, I wanted to highlight a special place: Birdsong Books. I’ve had the chance to visit this charming bookstore before, and let me tell you—it’s a true gem. I didn’t get to meet the owner in person, but I did chat with the friendly cashier who was just as welcoming. Even without meeting her, I can honestly say I’m so proud of what the owner has created. The setup, the cozy vibe, the curated selections—everything about Birdsong Books feels like a book lover’s dream.

And since you already know I do book reviews (yes, definitely hit me up if you have a book you want to spotlight!), I can’t help but get excited about spaces like this that keep the love of reading alive.

Now I’m curious: what’s your favorite independent bookstore?
Drop it in the comments or send me a message—I’d love to add some new places to my must-visit list!

Wishing everyone a Happy National Independent Bookstore Day! Let’s continue to support these beautiful spaces that bring stories—and people—together.

  • 🌍 Happy Earth Day! 🌿

Today isn’t just any ordinary Tuesday — it’s Earth Day, a time to pause, reflect, and show some extra love to the beautiful planet we call home. Whether you’re a nature lover, a city dweller with a potted plant obsession, or someone just starting to think green, Earth Day is for all of us.

    🌱 A Little History

Earth Day was born on April 22, 1970 — a bold, grassroots movement fueled by college students, activists, and ordinary people who had one thing in common: they wanted to protect the environment. Sparked by the rising awareness of pollution and the 1969 oil spill in Santa Barbara, Earth Day became a rallying cry. Over 20 million Americans took to the streets in peaceful demonstrations to demand cleaner air, water, and a healthier planet.

This day helped spark the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and led to groundbreaking environmental laws like the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act. Not bad for a day that started with a dream, right?

Fast forward to today, and Earth Day has grown into a global celebration, with more than 1 billion people in over 190 countries participating each year.

    🌸 Why It Still Matters

Earth Day isn’t just about planting a tree (though that’s a great idea 🌳). It’s a reminder that we’re all caretakers of this planet. From the air we breathe to the oceans we swim in, we have the power to protect, preserve, and even heal the earth.

Small acts make a big difference. Recycling. Reusing. Riding a bike instead of driving. Supporting sustainable businesses. Eating more plants. Speaking up for climate justice. These little choices create ripple effects that can move mountains — or at least protect them.

✨ 5 Creative Ways to Celebrate Earth Day

    1. Take a “green walk” – Snap photos of nature’s little beauties: blooming flowers, butterflies, sun rays through trees. Post them with #EarthDay2025 to spread some natural joy.
    2. Write a love letter to the Earth – Literally. Gratitude heals, and the planet deserves a little appreciation.
    3. Do a 1-day no-plastic challenge – Say no to single-use plastic for the day. It’s tougher than it sounds but eye-opening!
    4. Support a local eco-friendly business – Grab coffee from a zero-waste cafe, shop thrift, or try a vegan meal.
    5. Plant something – A tree, herb, flower, or even a seed of intention for how you’ll show up for the Earth going forward.

🌏 In the Words of Earth

If the Earth could speak, maybe she’d say: “Thank you for noticing my sunsets. For dancing in the rain. For picking up that piece of trash. For planting a tree you may never sit under. I notice you too.”

Let’s celebrate this day — not just with words, but with actions that echo love for generations to come. Because every day is Earth Day when we realize we’re not just living on this planet — we’re living with it.

Stay grounded. Stay green. Stay grateful. 💚

  • Weekend Vibes + Beltline Adventures

I hope everyone had a beautiful Easter and an amazing weekend! I actually peeled myself out of the house (yes, in that Georgia heat!) but luckily, there was some much-needed shade along the way.

I took my girls to the Atlanta Beltline—one of my favorite spots in the city. We strolled through the iconic Krog Street Tunnel, admiring the ever-changing graffiti art, then made our way into Krog Street Market. The vibe? Perfect.

While exploring, we stumbled across a pizza spot called The Secret Slice. Let me tell you—those slices were giving! Definitely a hidden gem I didn’t know I needed.

One of the things I love most about the Beltline is how it brings everyone together. People of all backgrounds were out enjoying the sunshine—walking, jogging, skating, biking, scootering, and, of course, walking their dogs. The energy was so positive and refreshing. You could just feel that spring is officially here.

On our way back, a friend suggested we stop by Jeni’s Ice Creams (how could I say no?). After sampling a few flavors, I landed on a vanilla-based one that was chef’s kiss. I wish I could remember the exact name, but I’ll definitely be back for it!

Overall, it was a day full of sunshine, good eats, sweet treats, and lots of steps—hello, vitamin D! If you haven’t experienced the Beltline, Krog Market, The Secret Slice, or Jeni’s Ice Creams, make it a point to go this season. You won’t regret it.

    My Steps

Until next time—stay cool and keep exploring, ATL!

  • Book Rec: Armed with Good Intentions by Wallo – A Must-Read with a Message

If you know me, you know I love a good book—and last night I finished one that truly left an imprint on me: Armed with Good Intentions by Wallo.

I’ve been following Wallo on IG for a while now. His videos? Pure gold. They’re raw, real, inspiring, and sometimes hilarious—but always packed with wisdom. What I love most is how genuine he is. After spending half his life behind bars, Wallo could’ve let his past define him—but instead, he turned it all around.

This book dives even deeper into his story. The pain, the lessons, the setbacks, and ultimately, the redemption. He’s seen a lot, been through a lot, but he chose to come home and elevate. He didn’t just change his life—he made it his mission to motivate others to do the same.

People doubted him, tried to silence his voice, but Wallo kept going. He kept showing up, posting his videos, dropping gems, and being unapologetically him. And you know what? That consistency and passion is contagious.

As someone who shares my voice through blogs, Wallo inspired me to start using my voice on video too. So if you’re reading this, Wallo—thank you. Keep being a blessing. Keep pushing forward. You’re touching more lives than you know.

Y’all, do yourself a favor and grab his book. Whether you’re a fan already or just love a good comeback story, Armed with Good Intentions is worth the read.

  • My Hop n Go Tours Experience

Y’all know Cece be in the city, and you already know I had to check out Hop n Go Tours—the ultimate sightseeing experience in Atlanta! From day tours and food tours to grown-and-sexy adult tours, Hop n Go is doing it all. I went on a two-hour adventure with our amazing tour guide, Alex, and let me tell you… she’s the real MVP!

We rolled through ATL in style, soaking up the sights and history. Alex dropped gems on every stop—we hit Centennial Olympic Park, the Georgia State Capitol, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s home and exhibit, the Madame CJ Walker Museum, The Underground, and more. It wasn’t just a tour, it was a whole vibe!

Alex knows her stuff. I even got a chance to chat with her one-on-one. Hop n Go started as her passion project after she moved from L.A. to Atlanta. She wanted to connect with the city on a deeper level, and since she loves traveling and meeting new people, she decided to bring those passions together and create something dope—and boom, Hop n Go Tours was born.

When I asked her what she loves most about ATL, she said:

    1. Meeting new people and embracing the culture.
    2. All the unique experiences Atlanta has to offer.
    3. And of course… the food! (We definitely bonded over that one!)

Hop n Go is a one-stop shop. Alex mixes history, music, and fun to give you a tour you won’t forget. Oh—and you can sip while you ride! Champagne, soft drinks, even adult beverages are available on board. Yes, ma’am!

I had the best time learning about the city and snapping pics at the landmarks. I’m already planning a group tour with my Women Stand Strong crew—and we might just try the night tour next. Atlanta really shines when it lights up at night!

So if you’re ever in the A—or even if you’re a local looking to explore your city in a new way—check out Hop n Go Tours. Alex is awesome, and her energy is contagious. Trust me, you’ll leave with memories, photos, and fun facts you’ll want to tell everybody.

  • Pull-Up Chronicles: Southern Sauce & Signed Pages with Young Bleed

You already know how I do — if there’s a legend in the city, I’m pulling up!

This time, I had the absolute pleasure of linking up with a true Southern icon, none other than @therealyoungbleed. If you know, you know — “How You Do Dat” is a classic that still hits the soul like sweet tea on a summer day. And trust me, Young Bleed still got that cool, calm confidence that reminds you exactly why the South always has something to say.

We chopped it up real quick, talked legacy, longevity, and life, and I even got my book signed (you know I don’t play about my books!). This moment was big for me — not just as a fan of hip hop, but as a woman who truly loves storytelling. And Young Bleed? He’s a walking book of Southern game and wisdom.

He dropped some gems that had me nodding like I was in a cypher. Real talk, I walked away feeling inspired and proud — proud to be in this moment, and proud to represent Cece in the City.

    So here’s your reminder:
Support the legends. Celebrate their stories. And never be afraid to pull up and show love.

Stay tuned for more Pull-Up Chronicles — because I’m just getting started!

  • My Trip to Boca ATL – Summerhill

Let’s taco ‘bout a spot that had me vibin’ from the moment I walked in—Boca ATL, a charming Mexican restaurant tucked away in the heart of Atlanta. This place had been on my foodie radar for a minute, and I finally made it happen. Trust me when I say, it was worth the wait.

    First Impressions: Vibes on Point
The moment I stepped into Boca, I felt like I’d been transported somewhere between a modern-day cantina and a Pinterest board dream. Bright colors, cute decor, and that cozy, can’t-leave-here-for-a-while energy. It’s the kind of place where you immediately think, “Yep—this is where the girls’ night starts or the solo lunch turns into a vibe.”

    Let’s Talk Tacos
Okay, let’s get into the real reason I came—the food. I ordered tacos (of course), and they did what they needed to do! Flavorful, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Whether you’re a classic carne asada type or you’re feeling fancy with shrimp or birria, Boca knows what they’re doing. It’s the kind of meal that makes you nod after every bite like, “Mmmhmm, yep… this right here.”

    Service with a Smile
You know how customer service can make or break a dining experience? Boca’s staff were super friendly, attentive, and just added to the welcoming energy of the spot. I love when a restaurant feels like you’re being hosted, not just served.

    A Little Sazón of History
The name Boca means “mouth” in Spanish—perfect, right? In many Latin cultures, the phrase “una buena boca” can refer to a good taste, or even having a flair for flavor. Mexican cuisine itself is a rich fusion of indigenous and Spanish influences, with tacos dating back to the 18th century—originally a working-class street food that’s now taken over the world (and my cravings). So when you bite into a taco at a place like Boca, you’re literally tasting centuries of culture, tradition, and bold, beautiful flavor.

    Final Thoughts
Boca ATL isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a whole experience. Good food, cute space, great people, and a little sprinkle of heritage? Say less. If you’re in the city and haven’t been, go ahead and add it to your list. And if you’ve already been—well, I totally get why you’d go back.
