  • Without Merit by Colleen Hoover

    Book: Without Merit

    Author: Colleen Hoover

    By: Cece Hymes

I have really been hooked on this author’s books. This book here I could not put down was about a girl named Merit who has a family that she’s been keeping secrets for years. She has a twin sister that she is not very close to and hasn’t been close to for years. Merit feels like she is the outsider of the family. Merit likes to collect trophies since she doesn’t win much; she looks at these trophies as being a winner. While at an antique shop she sees Sagan. She thinks something special about this guy at first sight.

Throughout the book it shows what family goes through. It also shows that communication goes a long way. Communication is the way to anything these days. People hold onto things for years and things that could have been done differently, looked at differently or solved. If just people open up their mouths and talk.

I have been learning to open up more. It’s not good to keep everything in. This book will make you like WOW. Merit gets fed up with holding all these things inside of her and decides to write to her family and tell them all the secrets that need to get out. Merit makes an escape plan to get out and for everyone to not have Merit anymore but her plan does not go as planned. Merit and family are going through a lot will they all ever come together.

Make sure to read this book you would love it also make sure to Join Cece Book club on Instagram or Facebook.

  • The Girl With Stars In Her Eyes by XIO Axelrod

Book: The Girl With Stars In Her Eyes

    Author: XIO Axelrod

    By: Cece Hymes

This book was about a girl name Antonia “Toni” Bennette who mother was a singer and when she was a little girl her mom sent her off to be with her dad one, she never even met in her life. As she gets shipped off, she meets another kid name Sebastian quick.

Sebastian was a kid that loved his guitar and music. He had a rough time living with his dad and was glad to meet Antonia. They became best friends. The entire time Antonia always had the biggest crush on Sebastian.

As they grew older, they saved money together and everything until one day Sebastian just took his share and left. Antonia was so heart broken and mad that he would do that to her. As they grew up, they both stayed in the business 8 years later they bumped into each other, but Antonia still was pissed with him. Antonia, making a name for herself went to audition for a group the Lilly’s.

The Lilly’s is a band that is looking for someone temporarily while the main group leader gets herself together from the fast life. Antonia, who calls herself Toni, can handle the pressure. Toni is used to performing in small places and doesn’t want the celebrity scene. As she gets into this group, she learns a lot and she and Sebastian open up to each other more and more like old times. Toni finds a friendship with the Lilly’s but keep in mind that it’s only temporary.

The group practices for a big show that is coming up and when the show happens that they practiced for a lot of craziness goes down and Toni saves the moment.

I love how this book shows real love. How it’s good to be friends first before a relationship. This book also shows what bands and people in the entertainment world go through. Things are bad, good, a lot with contracts if you don’t read and more.

I love the saying “It isn’t where you came from, it’s where you’re going that counts” never forget that.

If you love a good band and love story this is the book for you.

  • The Dating Playbook by Farrah Rochan

    Book: The Dating Playbook

    Author: Farrah Rochon

    By: Cece Hymes

This book was a great book. It was about Taylor Powell that is in a financial bond and trying to come up out of it. She starts a class and meets an athlete that needs help getting in shape. She has 2 best friends that they get up with each other for advice, lunches and encouragement.

Jamar Dixon is a former footballer who wants back into the NFL. He is convincing that Taylor can get him back in shape from a knee injury. He doesn’t want anyone to know she is training him. So, they work out a deal.

Taylor and Jamar happen to tell a journalist they were dating so they pretend a fake relationship. The more they are together the more they end up falling for each other. As I read this book, I love that they both bring out the best out of each other. They don’t judge one another, and they encourage one other. The great thing is always starting a friendship first. Love comes whenever, it just comes you never expect it.

I love that he finally figured it out and was working on and trying to get past a big tragedy that happened to his best friend that he had been carrying for years. Taylor had things in her life that needed to be addressed with her family and her schooling. I love that it took someone else that cares for her to look in and see some things about herself that needed to be worked on or looked at.

I also think it’s good that people see a therapist and are able to talk to someone. A love a good love story. Love never plays by the rules.

  • Rick Rhodes

The Awakening of the Fire Within and is a testament to not only myself but everyone involved’’ Meet The Designer RickRhodes and Find Out Why The Phoenix is Rising in Ft. Myers

    Who is Rick Rhodes?
I am full of inspiration, ambition, and purpose. I grew up in Fort Myers, Florida, and in various other cities throughout the northeast. As a youth, I was never attracted to colorful or loud clothing. Instead, I loved garments that were sleek and unassuming. It wasn’t until I was incarcerated at the age of 22 and served over 15 years in prison for attempted murder, dealing in marijuana, and possessing a firearm that I set out to establish what I believed was a true representation of fashion for myself. I maximized my time in prison and earned a BS in Organization Management from Grace College along with several associate degrees and certifications. The young man behind those walls fought each day to become the man you see now—a man filled with purpose and unwavering ambition. My goal is to encourage, inspire, and motivate. This is Rick Rhodes, a man who is more than a brand but a lifestyle.

What about the fashion industry inspires you?
The level of creativity that can be shown through fashion is astonishing. Fashion allows me to be expressive in so many ways, but it also gives me the opportunity to curtail my designs to every body type. Women have so many different body types and are often misrepresented in the industry. I want the women who wear my designs to feel beautiful regardless of their size and shape. This is why you’ll see a broad spectrum of cultures, shapes, height, and sizes throughout my upcoming show. Fashion inspires me because it’s a representation of being able to create with underrepresented models to truly reveal who we are in this country.

    What keeps you motivated?
I’m motivated when I know that I’m creating a garment for someone who will feel beautiful wearing it. While most people spend their hard-earned money on clothing only to be disappointed, I strive for something entirely different. My goal is to satisfy the emotional state of individuals and reaffirm their confidence in their purchase. It sounds hilarious to say but it’s true—out with the pinning of the side, the pulling of the other side, and in with exactly what the client wants.

What is the art of fashion?
The art of fashion isn’t one-dimensional. It revolves around innovation and who you see and feel your client is and will become. Fashion, in my creative perspective, evolves around my interpretation, beliefs, and experiences. I want my customer to be with me for their entire lives from a high school kid wearing my logo label match t-shirts or a Polo button logo color match dress shirt to a professional entering the workforce, a student entering college, or an entrepreneur starting a business. I want my artistry to take that journey with them. Starting from a $20, $30, or $40 item and extending to a $3,000 or $5,000 custom-made dress or suit. This is artistry in its truest form and that includes the evolution of fashion throughout life’s trials and successes. Tell us more about your upcoming launch in Fort Myers. On Friday, November 19, 2021, I will unveil my artistry, passions, and vision with the launch of the women’s high fashion line at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center in Fort Myers. The event is monumental because it’s the first African American-owned company to singlehandedly debut at the center. The theme is Phoenix Rising: The Awakening of the Fire Within and is a testament to not only
    myself but everyone involved.

The evening will include red carpet walks, lights, a Hollywood spectacle, several performances, champagne, and hors d’ouevres. You’ll enjoy the beautiful Star of Daughters of Legends & One Night in Miami Kimberly Brown on the runway. Other special guests include Congressman Byron Donalds and his Senior Advisor Larry Wilcoxson, Mayor Kevin Anderson, the City of Fort Myers branches, Joe and Benita North of The North Law Firm, Rich Castiano of the world-famous Cigar Lounge, Oron Harris of Cons to Dons, Janelle Harris of SheExist, Bullheaded PR and Artist Management, and many others.
VIP and General Admission tickets are available on Eventbrite.com and rickrhodesfashions.com.

Do you have any final thoughts to share with us?
This testament of my artistry is a result of walking in my purpose and letting my gifts be a testament to others. Please keep me lifted in your thoughts, prayers, and meditations. This is a journey that isn’t made on my own but is an ambitious push. I refuse to let my past be an anchor and choose to let it propel me toward greatness. Join me to see how it all unfolds on November 19 th and tune in as we release our YouTube documentary series, news, and interviews from the Phoenix models. • Faithful book by Kim Cash Tate

    Book: Faithful

    Author: Kim Cash Tate

    By: Cece Hymes

This was a great book. It was a very enjoyable novel. It was about different women and their faith and relationships. Each woman was going through their own problems. They all had to put their faith into God and let him lead the way.

Cyn and Cedric met, and they really felt good vibes with each other. Cedric wasn’t into Love and dating one woman he was into getting whoever he wanted. Cyn was a challenge for him. Cyn wanted to wait on marriage. Temptation was hitting her, but she let God guide the way. As she was on this journey Cedric followed her lead and let love follow him. The power of faith changed him and Cyn to be as one.

Dana and Scott now that relationship was a little different Dana and Scott worshipped God and did a lot with mentoring in church. Dana caught him cheating and was hurting so bad. They both put their faith back into God. To get over the Adultery and take it one day at a time to get their family back to where they need to be. Glad that Dana didn’t give up and took her time. Put her faith in God’s hands. Sometimes temptation and stepping out of faith happens. We all are human, but it takes a real relationship to want to work through the hurt and pain. Nowadays people give up on relationships once one messes up. Life is hard and staying on track can be hard sometimes but communication, faith, love. It takes all that to work together.

Phyllis and Hayes this relationship was different. Phyllis and Hayes have been together for years when they first were together they weren’t Christians. Phyllis decided years later to give her life to Jesus. Her and the Kids went to Church and lived as Christians as Hayes wanted no part of it. Hayes stayed home as the family went to church and bible study. Her and the kids wanted Hayes to be a part of what they believed the kids didn’t understand why their dad hated God. Phyllis felt sad because she wanted to be whole. She ends up meeting this guy and she loved how he took care of his family and in church. She was having temptation because she did not feel whole, she prayed and prayed. She felt like her prayers never would be answered. Never give up on prayer. It may take time but it works. It takes a family to be strong to stay in there with different beliefs. It was a reason why he didn’t believe, and glad Phyllis was able to find out before she did something really crazy to mess up her home and family.

Stephanie and Lindell, they got married fast. They were learning progress. I think they jumped into things before really being good friends and learning about each other. Lindell didn’t like some of Stephanie’s ways but didn’t want to give up. Stephanie went to church but really wasn’t into the belief of things. As she hangs out with the ladies and the group, they both learn different things of marriage and the word of God.

People are brought into your life for reasons. Never let a good thing get away. Relationships are hard but you have to work at it. A relationship is two. I always believed a relationship that prays together stays together. Marriage goes a long way. You have to teach others, pray with each other. Communication is the key, prayer is also. I believe in working things out if a marriage can be saved. I loved this book. I have been doing things all the wrong way, but this book let me know that I need to get back on the right path and let God lead the way. I need to put my life in his hands and stand my grounds. It’s never too late to change.

This book was great and I can’t wait to read another book by this Author.

  • While We Were Dating book by Jasmine Guillory

    Book: While We Were Dating

    Author: Jasmine Guillory

    By: Cece Hymes

Let’s start off by saying I love all Jasmine Guillory books. The books I have read have always been a love story.  They are fun, charming stories. Also give me hope that it is still true love still out there and it’s never too late to get real love.

This book was about two people who were into just dating, not really falling in love with each other but having fun. They also found a friendship within each other and that’s how relationships should start off friends first. Ben Stephens has never bothered with serious relationships. Anna Gardiner is also on a mission with work. They both weren’t looking for love but they both saw something and felt something different when they were together. They pretend to be a fake couple but in real life they were really into each other. They were naturals but it’s so much better when you really are into each other. Ben went with the flow but as he did his feelings got deeper for her. Anna also fell deep in love also but still in her heart she was scared.

When true love happens it’s organic and to let things be. Love comes when you are unexpected. Don’t give up on a good thing. If that person pushes you, motivates you, makes you happy and also you can share everything with that person. Tell that person how you feel, don’t keep those feelings inside and at least let the other person know. You never know the ending.

If you have never read any of her books, please do. They are all great love stories. Never give up on looking or waiting for true love. It’s someone out there for everyone. Don’t settle, make sure that’s what you want. Date and express your feelings. Communication is the key. Also, in this book it shows that people can go to counseling. Some people have things going on that can stop them from opening up. Some things can be mental, some of the past. You never know what someone is going through, you just have to take it one day at a time.
