  • An Exercise in Empowerment

    An Exercise in Empowerment

It is empowering to know your own strengths and to understand the impact that we have on these around us. But it can be difficult for us to see what is positive and valuable about ourselves. Those who love us are often able to recognize these traits much more clearly than we do.

Icon Park & Cocoa Beach in Orlando FL

    By: Cece Hymes

I had a chance to go with my family for my birthday to Orlando Fl. We got a chance to go to Cocoa Beach and it was a nice day out about an hour drive from the resort we stayed at. I didn’t know we had to go through so many tolls but once we got there it was so nice. The waves, the relaxation, the view and the best part it wasn’t crowded. The waves were hitting great and it wasn’t hot it was just right. We had a great time. I love the water and it’s just so peaceful to hear the waves look up at the sky and feel the breeze. I know I got a little tan, but it was very relaxing and nice.

We also had a chance to go to Icon Park where it is a tourist attraction. It has different little stores, gift shops, Ice cream parlors and more. It’s a nice little park to chill and relax and just walk around. Get some Cotton Candy, eat and spend time with family and friends. First time here and I enjoyed it.

Had a nice trip and can’t wait to go back and experience more of what Orlando has to offer. Had a great time.

Let me know some of your experiences in Orlando FL.

    By: Cece Hymes

I had a chance to go to Orlando Fl for my Birthday. We Checked out a place called Slidders pizza. It was pretty good. It was a thin pizza though. I like my pizza thick with meat, but it was good.

We also checked out Shake Shack burgers frozen custard fries shakes hot. It was pretty good my first time there. It’s a nice spot to get some juicy burgers and they also have some great shakes. I always wanted to go there and I was glad to check it out. I just wish they would sell it as a meal and not separate.

Have you checked these two places out. Let me know what your experience was with these two restaurants.

    Day 4

    How do you define friendship?

Friendship is a bond between people, its when someone is there for you and accept you for who you are. They tell you the truth, support you and love you. I actually wrote a poem on it .

    Friendship

    What is Friendship
    A bond between the two
A trust within me and you
The time that is spent between the two
And people we look up too

We have friends that are strong
We have friends that are wrong
    But that friendship boy
    We have to build bonds

    We have friends for years
We have some that last for days
But the good thing we have
    Is great memories

    Friendship is important
    And we all do need
    That one good friend
We can talk to yes indeed

    Tell your friends
    You love them
    Every chance you get
    Time is short
    So enjoy the present

    I am grateful
For the friends that I have
    And hope you are too
    This poem is dedicated
    To friendship
    So tell them
    I love you

  • Hilton Orlando Resort in Orlando FL

Hilton Orlando Resort in Orlando FL

    By: Cece Hymes

My family and I took a vacation for my birthday to the Hilton Orlando Resort in Orlando Fl. It was a nice resort. It had different eating places inside, a spa, fitness and outside pool. We went just in time before the storm so the weather was nice and sunny. The best part was that they had an adult section with the hot tubs and pool, they had a pool with a kids slide, two other hot tubs and a lazy river. I love the water. It wasn’t crowded, it was just right. So relaxing it was so much needed. We stayed in the pool. The stay was great and we enjoyed it. They had everything you needed right there at the resort. They had basketball courts and tennis courts. It was filled with things to do.

So, if you are looking for a place to stay while in Orlando Fl this is the spot. It’s not far from Icon park, Sea world and a lot of other nice places to go.

Glad to have gone to Orlando FL with the family for vacation. It was a great stay. Make sure to check them out.

  • Interview with Karen Arrington

    Interview with Karen Arrington

    By: Where It Begins

    Q. Tell everyone who Karen is?

    A. I am Karen Arrington-Empowerment coach, Author, Goodwill Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Founder of the Miss Black USA Pageant, and international Philanthropist. I’m here to help women write the new rules of power, opportunity + life-changing confidence. I’m here to give women the tools, inspiration & connections they need to redefine their destinies and defy expectations.

    Q. What or who inspired you to be this empowering woman you are today?

    A. I grew up around strong, intelligent black women like my mom. I was also strongly influenced and inspired by the stories of Abolitionists Lucretia Mott, Ida B. Wells, Maria Weston Chapman, Sojourner Truth and others who carried an insurmountable weight while challenging sexism and black people’s access to the ballot box. They paved the way for us to rewrite the rules of power and opportunity.

    Q. I see that you are an Ambassador for Goodwill. How did you get into that?

    A. A goodwill Ambassador of a country is a huge honor. It’s considered an honorary diplomat

    Q. What inspiration can you give to others?

    A. How BIG do you want to live? Your NEXT LEVEL life is closer than you think. Don’t settle for a life of invisibility and mediocrity. Set ambitious goals, reach for bigger opportunities, and know that you are brave enough to get what you deserve.
