  • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

    Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

    By: Cece Hymes

Martin Luther King Jr was a Baptist Minister and activist, one of the most prominent leaders in the civil rights movement. Martin Luther King Jr was a leader, when I think about him, I think of the Dream. He had a Dream to make things better in the world he fought for right and for his dream. He participated in and led marches for the right to vote, labor rights, civil rights and more for his people.

Martin Luther King Jr was born right here in Atlanta GA. There’s so much history right here in this area. You definitely got to check out the MLK house and center they have here in Atlanta. Educate yourself more about the history here of the place of birth where Martin Luther King had resided.

When I was in school, they taught me this song and it stuck in my head for all these years so when I think of MLK I think and sing this song:

    He had a dream

    A wonderful dream

His name was Martin Luther King

And a preacher man was he

    He marched for mankind

    Died for freedom

    Saying we shall overcome

    Yes we shall overcome

Hope I said that song right but that’s how I remembered it. Glad that the teachers taught me the history and the song to carry with me forever also her are some of my favorite quotes by him:

    ·         “The Time is Always Right to Do What is Right”

    ·         “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education”

    ·         “I have decided to stick with love, Hate is too great a burden to bear”

    ·         “We must use time creatively, in the knowledge that the time is always right to do right”

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was jailed several times fighting for us and for our rights. He won the Nobel Peace Prize for combating racial inequality through nonviolent resistance. I will always tell people never give up on your dreams or your rights. We have had so many leaders to fight for us to have freedom. We have come a long way. We need more leaders now to step back in and teach the youth and mentor us men and women in the right direction. Make sure to Honor Dr. King this month and if you ever are in Atlanta make sure to check out the center and learn more about him.

What were your most memorable moments with Dr. King? Have you visited the center here in Atlanta? If so, what did you think? Make sure to follow me @Cece.Atl

  • Bahama Breeze

    Restaurant: Bahama Breeze

    Where: Duluth Ga

    By: Cece Hymes

I got a chance to try this place out. I have been before, but it has been a minute. This is like a Caribbean spot. It’s a very nice place. You can also sit outside around the fire.  It’s like a vibrant island atmosphere. I ended up getting the shrimp and lobster pasta. That was good. They also have live music there and happy hour.

I went before in the summer, and it was nice outside. I would definitely recommend this place if you liked a nice island kind of vibe. The drinks are good. If you like a nice fruity drink like me (ladies) lol then try their tropical drinks. It’s not pricey and there are plenty to choose from.

Check out Bahama Breeze and let me know what you think. Also follow me @Cece.atl
