This month, I’m thrilled to spotlight and support some incredible authors I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, along with their inspiring books. As a self-proclaimed bookworm, I find immense joy in diving into their stories and sharing their journeys with you.
One unforgettable experience was attending Common’s book tour. The rapper, actor, and activist introduced his deeply personal memoir,ย Let Love Have the Last Word. In this book, Common opens up about his journey to find love, self-love, and his relationships with his daughter and mother. It’s a powerful narrative about growth, connection, and understanding.
Common’s story is a testament to the transformative power of love, and his insights are both moving and enlightening. If you haven’t already, make sure to check out Let Love Have the Last Word and embark on this heartfelt journey with Common.
Iโm thrilled to share my thoughts on Bitter and Sweet by Rhonda McKnight. This is the second book I’ve read by this author, and I was so excited to dive into it, especially after attending her book signing. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint!
The story centers around two sisters, Mariah and Sabrina, who seem to embody the title perfectlyโone is bitter, and one is sweet. Despite their differences and the years they’ve spent apart, they find themselves back home, helping their grandparents with their restaurant. Through this, they discover their unique talents and begin to heal old wounds.
Mariah is grappling with bitterness from past hurts and is finally seeking the help she needs. I appreciate how the book highlights the importance of therapyโsomething many people shy away from but can be incredibly beneficial. Mariahโs skills in business and marketing shine through as she helps with the restaurantโs success.
On the other hand, Sabrina is dealing with her own life struggles, living in her van and ensuring her daughter is well taken care of. Her talents in baking and cooking bring a special touch to the restaurant. Despite their struggles, the sisters gradually open up to each other, rebuilding their bond and becoming close once again.
A particularly beautiful aspect of the book is the discovery of their great-great-grandmotherโs letters. These letters reveal the tragedies and struggles she endured, creating a connection between the past and present that both sisters can relate to. I loved how this historical element added depth to the story, blending seamlessly with the narrative.
Attending the book signing was a fantastic experience, and I even got my own mason jar from the author! Reading the book beforehand made this little token even more meaningful.
Rhonda McKnight has a unique talent for weaving history, food, and personal growth into her stories. The townโs history and the familyโs legacy add richness to the plot, making it a truly engaging read.
Bitter and Sweet is a heartwarming story about family, forgiveness, and finding oneโs place in the world. I canโt wait to read more books by Rhonda McKnight. If you haven’t picked up this book yet, I highly recommend it!
Iโm excited to share my thoughts on For the Love of Summer by Susan Mallery. This book captivated me with its powerful message about friendship, love, and resilience.
The story revolves around two women who come together through their shared experiences with a man who wronged them both. I was particularly drawn to Erica, a strong and outspoken character with a heart of gold. Despite her fears of love due to past hurts, she learns valuable lessons about trust and friendship. Allison, on the other hand, struggles but bravely opens up to seek help and becomes less judgmental as the story progresses.
One of the most touching aspects of the book is the character Summer. She exemplifies strength and maturity, wanting to do right by her brother and stepmother. Her actions bring everyone together, proving that even a teenager can make a significant impact on the lives of adults.
For the Love of Summer teaches us about the power of friendship and the importance of making our own judgments rather than listening to others. Itโs a reminder that we should be open to help when needed and that true friendship can come in unexpected ways.
As women, we must support and empower each other instead of tearing each other down. This book beautifully illustrates how women can stand together and form strong bonds despite their differences. It also emphasizes the importance of independence and having your own resources, ensuring you have something to fall back on in challenging times.
Overall, For the Love of Summer is a great read filled with lessons about love, friendship, and personal growth. I canโt wait to dive into more books by Susan Mallery.
Today, I want to share my thoughts on a book that truly touched my heart: A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole. This story is beautifully written, bittersweet, and incredibly inspiring.
From the moment I started reading, I was captivated by the sweet and profound love story of Poppy and Rune. Their journey together is a testament to the power of love and resilience. Poppy, though young, embodies strength and courage in the face of adversity. Rune, with his unwavering devotion, brings out the beauty of finding a soulmate who can make the darkest days a little brighter.
This book opened my eyes to the importance of living life with positivity, freedom, and happiness. Life is too short to be consumed by anger and sadness. Through Poppy and Rune’s adventures, I was reminded that true love and peace are attainable, even amidst lifeโs challenges.
Reading A Thousand Boy Kisses made me reflect on my own life. It encouraged me to embrace my own adventures and learn from every experience. Despite the tears and moments of sadness, this book left me feeling uplifted and inspired.
If you havenโt read A Thousand Boy Kisses yet, I highly recommend it. Itโs a story that will stay with you long after youโve turned the last page.
Happy reading, and may you all find your own adventures filled with love and joy!

I stayed up late last night to finish this book. It was really good. It was about a lady named Hannah who made wood and She met a Guy named Owen. Owen had a daughter whose mother was killed at a young age. His daughter was so used to just her and her dad she really didnโt want to share her dad or let anyone in her circle.
Owen and Hannah were in love and decided to get married. Hannah didnโt know too much about Owen’s background, but she knew bits of pieces that Owen shared. Then something tragic happened at Owen Job and Owen went missing. He left one message for Hannah and that was to protect his daughter. She didnโt know what it meant but she wanted to know what was going on.
The FBI and the Marshalls were investigating her and she was looking for clues to figure out what was going on. Owen wasnโt the person she thought he was. She tried to think of little things that happened in their life where she can go back and find clues. Hannah and Bailey goes to Austin Texas to try to find clues and to see if some memory would come back to the daughter of when she was younger. They take this journey together and it brings them closer little by little.
As they go to Austin Texas to try to figure out the past and look for clues, they find some of Bailey mother side of the family. Hannah does not know who to trust on this journey so she just has to trust herself and find things and research.
I donโt want to tell more of the book. I don’t want to give it up but it also has a series on Apple TV that I will have to watch to see if I like the movie like I liked the book. I didnโt care for the ending too much, I wanted more but hoping for a part 2.
If you saw the movie or read the book, what did you think of it?

I got a chance to watch The Perfect Find With Gabrielle Union and Keith Powers. I did read the book a while back and the book was really good. The Movie was just ok, it seemed like it was a little rushed. Like she met someone jumped straight into it and boom bow it was all over.
It wasnโt one of my favorites with Gabrielle being the main star. It was a cute movie though I can say that. It shows that age doesnโt matter as long as two grown people can be happy. Love is love and you canโt help who you love. I like that she got back out there and that they could bring out the best in each other.
