    Movie: My Place or Mine

    By: Cece Hymes

Got a chance to watch this movie on Netflix. It was about Debbie and Peter, they hooked up 20 years ago one time. Peter told Debbie he wasn’t ready for a relationship. So, they become best friends. Peter had moved away to New York While Debbie was in LA. Within the 20 years Debbie has a son and is married she gets a divorce but her life is based around her son.

Debbie has to go away to take a final in New York her babysitter cancels on her so Peter decides to come and babysit her son for a week. They swap houses and lives for one week. They discover what they think they want but might not be what they really need.

My motto is always your best friend is your soulmate. So many people are scared to take that jump because they think it will mess up their friendship, some people settle in relationships not happy just because they have kids together. Can you imagine having a best friend that’s the opposite sex that you can communicate about everything and also be different from one another. It takes that balance.

We as people ignore the signs and spend our lives looking for happiness when it is right under our nose. I enjoyed this movie, it showed what true friends are like and taking chances. It also showed that when you have great people in your life don’t let them go. Nothing beats a failure but to try new things out to see what makes you happy. It also tells you to be honest with yourself and speak up. Things could be so different in life if you wouldn’t hold out on things.

Debbie and Peter needed that week to live each other’s life so that they could push each other for greatness. Peter helped out with showing her son a new life and new things and Debbie pushed Peter’s book that he always wanted to get published but never pushed it.

Great movie on Netflix if you watched it let me know what you think. If you haven’t, check it out.

  • Eat Pray Love Film

    Movie: Eat Pray Love

    By: Cece Hymes

This movie came out back in 2010. I am just now watching it and it was good. I love Julie Roberts. She is a great actor. This film was about a lady named Liz that thought she had everything she ever wanted in life, a home, a husband, a great career. She finds herself not happy. She wants to find out what is important to her and what makes her happy. She gets divorced and then goes to travel to different countries to figure out life.

Liz travels to Italy, India and Bali and learns things on her journey. She meets new friends, learns to meditate and finds she loves to eat. She still has feelings and can’t seem to get over the pain of leaving her husband. She also helps people on her journey. She makes others happy while trying to figure out what makes her happy. She steps out of her comfort zone and tries new foods, studies a new language and reads and learns new cultures.

I would love to travel to different places and to learn how other cultures live and see things. I started a new journey of mine to educate myself more on the world and what is right where I am. I want to travel to 50 states and different countries and at least do 3 to 5 things in each state.

Watching this movie inspired me to continue my journey and not give up. To learn and listen. To meet new people and meditate. Also, on her journey she opens up again to date. She was scared to open her heart because she gets in deep when she is in a relationship and thinks she will lose herself. Sometimes people can forget who they are when they get involved with someone. Nothing like giving it a try you never know what it will bring.

Great movie on Netflix if you watched it let me know what you think. If you haven’t, check it out. It is based on a true story of Elizabeth Gilbert’s personal experience.

  • Leading Men of Film and Television in Atlanta GA

Event: Leading Men of Film and Television

    Where: Atlanta GA

    By: Cece Hymes

I had a chance to go to this event hosted by Michelle Taylor Willis. I love getting out and networking in Atlanta, GA. There are so many things to do here. I got a chance to meet Tray Chaney who was on Saints and Sinners. I also got a chance to meet Julian Brittano who has been in a couple of films. I interviewed him and learned a little more about his journey. Make sure to check it out.  They had Kevin Savage and Rico Ball seen on #BET. They shared a lot of knowledge on the panel.

All these great men have been on the Wire and Saints and sinners. I know everyone has watched those shows. Julian was on Greenleaf when I interviewed him, he talked about his experience on that show. Here at this event, they share their personal experiences and knowledge to motivate and inspire those who are truly serious about getting into the industry.

Atlanta is the next Black Hollywood and there are so many movies and films being made here in Atlanta. I might need to get into film lol. I enjoyed this event and was glad to be invited out. I give all those men their roses today. They were sharp and shared a lot of information. Make sure to check them out and also follow me @Cece.Atl.
