  • Trying New Things — Old Favorites, New Adventures

Hey everyone — hope you’re having an amazing day! I’m loving that the weather is creeping back into the 60s and 70s this week. It feels like the perfect time to step into something new… even if the “new” is something that’s been around forever for everyone else but me 😄

This year is all about trying new things, revisiting classics, and exploring places I’ve somehow skipped over — and whew, I finally checked one off the list…

🟠 My First Trip to Hooters — with a Little History

So after all these years, I finally went to Hooters.

For the longest time, my thoughts were pretty simple: “It’s a sports bar… with women… and hooters.” 😂

But I decided to give it a try — and honestly, it wasn’t bad at all. Lots of TVs, lively energy, and yes… the ladies didn’t really have “big hooters,” it’s more about the iconic uniform and brand style. My waitress even wrote her name on a napkin — old-school Hooters touch!

I ordered tater tots and shrimp (which were just okay), and my daughter got a steak-and-cheese sub that she said was really good.

    A little Hooters history:
Hooters first opened in the early 1980s and grew into one of the most recognizable sports-bar brands in the U.S. It became known for its wings, game-day atmosphere, and its signature “Hooters Girl” concept — which has been part of American pop-culture debates, nostalgia, and sports dining culture for decades.

I’ve heard a lot of locations have been closing recently, so I’m actually glad I got to experience it at least once.

🍕 Italian Pie — Big Slices & Throwback Vibes

Next adventure this week: Italian Pie.

I’d heard about the big pizza slices — so of course I had to try one. I went with sausage, and while the sausage looked a little funny 😂 it actually wasn’t bad at all. I also grabbed BBQ wings to go with

    it.

    A little history note:
Italian Pie has roots in casual neighborhood-style pizza culture — places built around family recipes, oversized slices, and that classic “grab a slice and relax” feel that’s been part of American pizza dining since the mid-20th century.

Have you tried either of these spots? I know a lot of you probably have — but hey, they’re new to me… and that’s what this year is all about!

🎬 Cece On The Scenes — Watch of the Week: Eden

This week’s watch was Eden — based on a true story.

A couple leaves German society in 1929 and escapes to an uninhabited island, looking for paradise… but things begin to fall apart once others arrive.

    • Genre: Thriller / Based on Real Life
    • Year: 2025
    • Duration: 2hr 9m
    • Director: Ron Howard
    • Cast includes Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby & more

I give it 3 out of 5 — very interesting perspective, but I personally could never imagine living on an island like that back then. Today’s islands? Totally different story 😅

📚 **Book of the Week — South of the Buttonwood Tree

    by Heather Webber**

First book I finished in 2026 — and the second book I’ve read by Heather Webber — and I’m loving her writing so far. Definitely a 4 out of 5 from me.

A touch of story history + themes:
The book blends Southern folklore, magical realism, and family secrets that stretch across generations. It reminds you how some secrets can cause pain — but also have a way of pulling people closer and helping them heal.

    💌 This Year’s Thank-You Tributes

This year, I’m sending thank-you messages to women who inspire and motivate me.

    This week’s shout-outs went to:

    🌟 Michelle Obama
Reading her books reminded me of her authenticity, strength, and ability to speak truth with grace — especially Becoming.

🎉 My good friend DJ Ms. Eclectic — Happy Birthday!
She’s been an incredible friend — inspiring, hardworking, supportive, and full of positive vibes and good energy.

Grateful for women who pour into others without even realizing how impactful they are.

Well — that’s it for now. This year I’ve got a long bucket list, lots of hidden gems to explore, and plenty of “new to me” experiences coming your way.

  • Birthday Weekend Vibes

September 27th was my birthday, and let me tell you—it was a whole vibe from start to finish! ✨

First, big shoutout to Dede Tolder, the master colorist and stylist who’s been keeping my hair flawless for a while now. I told her, “Dede, I need a new look for my birthday—a fresh color for this new chapter and journey.” And sis did not disappoint! She trimmed it, colored it, and gave me this gorgeous fall-inspired look that matched the season perfectly. 🍂 If you’re in Stone Mountain and need a stylist for color, cuts, sew-ins, or more, definitely call her at 678-357-0480. She’s

the truth, and I left her chair feeling brand new.

Next stop: The Patio! I slipped into my Fashion Nova fit, felt cute (and I know I looked cute too 😏), and celebrated with family and friends. We laughed, danced, and just soaked in the good vibes all night long.

Saturday—my actual birthday—was just as special. My daughters took me to Rocking Crab, and listen… those crabs were everything! 🦀 They showered me with gifts, and I felt so loved. Big thanks to my family and friends for spoiling me—you all made me feel amazing.

And if that wasn’t enough, the celebration kept rolling. The following Sunday, we hit The Patio in Snellville again, and this time Slick Rick and Chubb Rock were in the building! The energy was crazy, my leopard Fashion Nova outfit was giving, and I danced the night away with my crew.

Overall, my birthday weekend was nothing short of incredible—full of love, laughter, and memories I’ll never forget. Here’s to another year, a new chapter, and a beautiful journey ahead. 🥂🎉 Happy Birthday to me—let’s see what this chapter brings! 💛

  • Hello, May! Let’s Make It Magical

Welcome to the beautiful month of May—may it bring peace, happiness, and joy into your life! There’s something about May that feels like a fresh start, filled with blooming flowers, warmer days, and meaningful celebrations.

We kicked off the month with our latest Cece Book Club discussion on Pretty Baby by Mary Kubica. I gave it a 3 out of 5 stars—definitely a slower burn compared to some of her other works, which I enjoyed more. But that’s the fun of book club—everyone has different takes! If you love psychological thrillers and want to join in on our monthly Zoom chats, come read with us!

We also tried something new: Guayaki Organic Yerba Mate. The flavors we tested were Revel Berry and Bluephoria. A lot of folks enjoyed it for the energy boost, but I’ll be honest—it wasn’t my cup of tea (maybe because it’s organic?). Still, it might be your thing! I always say: you’ll never know until you try it.

As for adventure, last week I hit the trails to Arabia Mountain—and this time, I made it to the top! The view was totally worth the climb. If you’re looking for a scenic hike and a peaceful moment with nature, add it to your list.

This week is full of celebrations! Today is Cinco de Mayo, so if you’re into tacos and tequila, go all in! Mother’s Day is just around the corner—let’s honor all the amazing moms out there. And don’t forget Memorial Day at the end of the month, a time to remember and reflect.

Oh—and I’m running specials this month! If you’re looking to promote your business, product, or blog, reach out to me. Let’s shine a spotlight on your brand!

    Here’s to making May marvelous!

  • Love is in the Air—Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day—a day filled with love, appreciation, and all things sweet! Sure, love is something we show every day, but there’s something special about setting aside a day just to celebrate it. Whether you’re single, in a relationship, or just vibing with the love of family and friends, today is for you!

If you’re single, take this as a reminder to love on yourself—pamper yourself, buy your own flowers, indulge in your favorite treat, and enjoy every moment. Self-love is the best love!

If you’re in a relationship, let today be a little extra—whether it’s a heartfelt note, a thoughtful gift, or simply quality time, make your person feel cherished.

For me, I always make sure my kids feel the love. Even though they’re grown now, they still look forward to their Valentine’s treats—candy, cards, flowers, and all the little things that remind them they are loved. And this year, they surprised me with a teddy bear, flowers, and candy! Talk about a full-circle moment.

So, to everyone out there, Happy Valentine’s Day! Whether you’re celebrating with a significant other, your best friends, your family, or just yourself—know that you are loved, you are valued, and you are special.

Enjoy your Friday, spread some love, and remember—someone out there is thinking of you today! ❤️

  • 🌸 Welcome to May! 🌸

As spring blooms in full glory, it’s time to embrace the beauty of renewal and growth. The air is filled with the sweet scent of flowers, and there’s a palpable sense of excitement in the breeze. This month, we have the wonderful opportunity to celebrate two pillars of our community: mothers and teachers. Let’s take a moment to honor the incredible love and dedication they bring into our lives.

But amidst the hustle and bustle of honoring others, don’t forget to show yourself some love too! Treat yourself to a moment of self-care and appreciation. You deserve it!

Reflecting on April, it was a month filled with delightful discoveries and personal achievements. Exploring the enchanting exhibits at the Balloon Museum in Atlanta was a highlight, as was indulging in the serene ambiance of Alcove Coffeehouse, nestled by the picturesque lake in Lilburn. Completing my poetry book was a fulfilling accomplishment, marking the culmination of a creative journey. And diving into the pages of “Dances” by Nicole Cuffy was a literary delight, sparking new perspectives and emotions.

As we turn the page to May, let’s eagerly anticipate the adventures and possibilities that lie ahead. Let’s seize every opportunity to try new things, embrace new experiences, and savor the simple joys of life. Here’s to a month filled with laughter, love, and peace at its finest level.
