  • A Chilly Sunday with Cece: Movies, Books & Music Magic

    🌟 Happy Sunday, Beautiful People!

I hope everyone’s doing amazing and staying cozy — can you believe this is the last week of October? 🕸️🍁 We’re about to step into 2026 before we know it! The weather’s officially giving boot season and sweater weather vibes, and I’m here for it.

Now, let’s jump into a little “Cece on the Scene” update — where movies, books, candles, and good vibes meet! ✨

🎬 Movie of the Week: “Alice” (2022)

So, I finally watched Alice starring Keke Palmer and Common — and wow, what a ride. It might be an older movie, but it’s new to me!

This 2022 thriller tells the story of Alice, an enslaved woman who escapes a plantation only to discover it’s actually 1973. 🤯 She crosses paths with activist Frank (played by Common), and together they journey toward truth and liberation.

While critics gave it a low 29% (ouch 😅), audiences came through with a warmer 59%, especially praising Keke’s performance — and rightfully so! She carried that film with strength and fire. 🔥

For me, it’s a 3 out of 5 stars — not the best, but still worth the watch if you love stories about resilience and awakening.

  • We Have a Ghost (Film)

    Movie: We Have a Ghost

    Watch: On Netflix

    By: Cece Hymes

This movie was pretty good. It was about a ghost in a house that ran people off. This other family moves into the house and when the teenage boy finds a ghost in the attic he is not scared. He records to make sure it is real and wants to help the ghost. When his brother sees the video on his brother’s phone he shows his dad and his dad wants to upload it on YouTube. He thinks this will help him become famous and make money.

Ernest, who is the ghost, can’t remember what happened to him. He is unable to speak and is really friendly. Kevin, the teenager, becomes friends with the ghost. Kevin and his neighbor start finding clues to figure out who Ernest is. A washed up scientist who once headed a CIA program to investigate paranormal activity sees the YouTube that Kevin Dad Frank put up. She sees this as an opportunity to get back into her Career. She is determined to get Ernest and put him up under observation.

Kevin and the neighbor find a picture with Ernest and a guy. They find out who the guy is and where he lives. They have to drive miles to go find him. So, Kevin takes his brother’s car and he and the neighbor leave. On their journey they run into cops, and they get away. They go through some things to get to their destination. Little by little Ernest sees little parts of his life when he was alive of a little girl who is his daughter.

They get to the guy’s house and then the cops bust in and capture Ernest. Kevin is sad because Ernest is his best friend and it’s like he can’t help him get away. He really wanted to help Ernest, that’s his friend. I don’t want to give up all the details of the movie. You have to go watch it.

If you see it let me know what your thoughts are. I really enjoyed it. It has some humor parts, action and also emotional parts but overall, it is a great movie. It is inspiring also. Make sure to follow me @Cece.atl
