    Interview with Edward Manning

Quote: “I never miss an opportunity to work on my health. Most of my fitness level is worked on in the gym. I also like to take hikes and use my environment to be active.”

    Q. Tell us more about who Ed is?

    A. That is an excellent question. Who I am continues to evolve as I experience life and learn new things. In short, I am a 41-year-old Black male who is an owner of a personal training company called Mpressionz Fitness LLC. I spent 15 years in the Air force as an Air Traffic Controller. When I decided to get out of the military, I decided my working life to improve the health of others through functional training and knowledge.

    Q. Tell us about your journey of being in fitness?

    A. I have always been active. My dad was a basketball coach and had a basketball in my hands since I was born. I played basketball, football, baseball, and ran track in my youth. The working on fitness for more than health started with my deployment to Iraq in 2008, that I had mentioned before.

    Q. What are some of the advantages and challenges of being fit?

    A. I believe the biggest challenge of being fit is consistency. Working out and eating right on the days that you don’t want to be necessary to reach optimum health.

    Q. What advice can you give to other people who want to be fit?

    A. The best advice I can give is to stop waiting and get active. If you’re not sure what to do, hire a knowledgeable trainer to show you how. The key though is to start moving toward a worthwhile health goal.

    Interview with Tori B. Watson

    By: Where It Begins

    Q. Tell us more about who Tori Walton is?

    A. I am Tori B. Walton born and raised in Atlanta, GA to southern parents of whom divorced by the time I was twelve. I am the oldest of 3, I have a brother one year younger, and a sister who’s four years younger respectively. Through the years I’ve maintained a relationship with both respectively. As early as I could remember I will always be fascinated with the imaginary/exploratory aspects of life. I can remember the eighties, those great humble beginnings of playing outdoors, drinking from the water hose you name it we did it. I was always very active and athletic to include teaching myself through reading books on how to do “handsprings.” I am an introvert by nature so this ultimately led to passion as a reader and artist at a very young age.

    Q. Tell us more about your journey of being in fitness.

    A. My journey extends beyond the asphalt of physical fitness and over into the realm of “Personal Development”. I created a brand that I felt would benefit people far more than just physically. Being an instructor in the US Army I still have the teacher/coach approach with everything that I do to include fostering a learning environment for others to unlock their potential that lies within.

    Q. What has been the hardest experience in your life?

    A. The hardest experience in my life was the battle from within myself… the anxiety, post-traumatic stress and triggers which lead to depression and alcohol abuse.
