Happy Tuesday, everyone! It’s Cece in the City, and this weekend I found myself back at one of my favorite places in Atlanta—Georgia Aquarium!
I’ve been to the aquarium a few times over the years, but this visit felt extra special because they are celebrating 20 Plus Years of Wonder and Impact. It was the perfect reminder that no matter how many times you visit, there’s always something new to discover.
This time, I met up with a friend who was experiencing the aquarium for the very first time. Watching someone see everything through fresh eyes made the visit even more exciting. From the colorful tropical fish to the graceful rays, the massive whale sharks, and the playful dolphins, every exhibit reminded us just how incredible our oceans really are.
One of the highlights of the evening was Glow Nights, where the aquarium transforms into a glowing underwater adventure filled with colorful lights and an even more magical atmosphere. It gave the entire experience a fun nighttime vibe that made everything feel even more immersive.
Of course, we couldn’t leave without watching the dolphin presentation! Before it started, I told my friend, “We’re sitting up high because I’m not trying to get wet today!” 😂 If you’ve ever been to the dolphin show, you know exactly what I mean. Thankfully, our seats kept us dry while we still enjoyed every jump, flip, and splash from a safe distance.
One thing about me—nature will always have my heart. Whether it’s hiking through the mountains, exploring botanical gardens, or spending time surrounded by marine life, I find so much peace watching animals in their natural environments. I could honestly spend hours just watching the fish swim by. It’s relaxing, inspiring, and a reminder of how beautiful our planet truly is.
A Little Georgia Aquarium History
Georgia Aquarium first opened its doors on November 23, 2005, thanks to a generous gift from Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus, who wanted to create a world-class attraction that would inspire people to care about our oceans.
Located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, it quickly became one of the largest aquariums in the world and remains one of the city’s most visited attractions. Home to thousands of animals representing hundreds of species, the aquarium is known for its incredible Ocean Voyager exhibit featuring whale sharks, manta rays, and countless other marine animals.
Over the past 20 years, Georgia Aquarium has become much more than a tourist destination. Through conservation efforts, animal rescue and rehabilitation, scientific research, and educational programs, it has helped protect marine life while teaching millions of visitors about the importance of preserving our oceans for future generations.
Their 20th anniversary celebrates not only two decades of unforgettable memories but also the positive impact they’ve made around the world through conservation, education, and innovation.

Every visit reminds me why Georgia Aquarium is one of Atlanta’s must-see attractions. Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, there’s always something that leaves you in awe.
From Glow Nights to the dolphin presentation and every beautiful exhibit in between, this was another unforgettable adventure with great company, lots of laughs, and memories I’ll always cherish.
