Happy Memorial Day from Cece in the City! 🇺🇸✨

This Memorial Day weekend has definitely been a gloomy and rainy one here in Atlanta. The skies have been gray, the rain keeps falling, and honestly… it looks like we may be getting rain all week long. But sometimes those slow rainy days are perfect for relaxing, reflecting, grabbing snacks, and finally sitting down to watch a movie you’ve been waiting on.
So for today’s Cece On The Scene review, I checked out Regretting You — and of course, I had to compare it to the book because I read it years ago.
First, Let’s Talk About the Book 📚

I’ve always enjoyed books by Colleen Hoover. She has a way of pulling readers into emotional stories filled with complicated relationships, heartbreak, love, and real-life struggles. When I first read Regretting You, I remember giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars because it kept me emotionally invested from beginning to end.
One thing about Colleen Hoover books — they usually leave you thinking long after you finish the last page.

Now the Movie Review 🎥

The movie? I’d give it about a 3 out of 5.
It was good… but if I’m being honest, the book was definitely better for me. And maybe part of that is because I read the book so long ago and had my own vision of the characters and storyline in my head already.
Watching the movie felt a little all over the place at times. There were so many emotions happening at once, especially surrounding the daughter’s storyline, that it almost felt overwhelming. You could really see how mentally exhausting everything became for her with so much happening at the same time.

That emotional heaviness came through on screen, but I do wish certain parts had been slowed down more so viewers could connect deeper with the characters and moments.
Still, the movie had some touching scenes, emotional moments, and enough drama to keep me watching until the end.
Rainy Weekend Movie Vibes ☔🍿
Even though it’s been raining nonstop, I will say this kind of movie fits perfectly with a rainy weekend vibe. Sometimes the best thing to do is stay inside, get comfortable, and watch something emotional that makes you think.

So if you’re looking for something to watch while listening to the rain outside, I’d say check out Regretting You when you get a chance.
And if you already read the book, let me know:
Did you like the book better or the movie? 👀
