Sky Barre in Atlanta: My First Class Experience

Hey everyone!

This month, our women’s meetup took things to new heights—literally. We stepped out of our comfort zones and into a Sky Barre class here in Atlanta… and let me tell you, it was an experience.

Now, we didn’t have a huge turnout this time, but honestly? That didn’t matter. The energy was right, the vibes were there, and we made it count. Sometimes it’s not about the numbers—it’s about the moment.

So… What Exactly is Sky Barre?

If you’ve never heard of it, think ballet meets strength training with a twist of aerial movement. Barre itself actually has roots going back to the 1950s, inspired by ballet conditioning. It was designed to build strength, flexibility, and posture—and trust me, you feel all of that.

Now add the “sky” element… and yeah, your arms, legs, and core are about to have a serious conversation with you 😅

My Experience (aka… Steps 1, 2, 3 Were My Friends 😂)

Let me be real with y’all…

Steps 1, 2, 3? I had those down.
Steps 4, 5, 6? Whew… we’re gonna revisit those another day.

This workout is no joke. You’re using muscles you didn’t even know you had—especially your upper body. My arms were shaking, my legs were working overtime, but I kept going. And honestly, that’s what it’s all about.

Meanwhile, my daughter and her best friend came along, and baby—her best friend was getting it. I was over there like, “Okay girl, I see you!” 💪🏽

Shoutout to the Instructor

The instructor was super helpful, patient, and encouraging—which makes all the difference when you’re trying something new (and slightly intimidating). No judgment, just guidance and good energy.

Why I Loved It

What I really love is that this wasn’t just another “let’s go out” kind of meetup. Don’t get me wrong, we all love a good brunch or night out—but Atlanta has so much more to offer.

Experiences like this remind me why I started Cece in the City in the first place:

  • Trying new things
  • Finding hidden gems
  • Creating memories

Because nothing beats stepping outside your comfort zone… even if you don’t quite nail steps 4, 5, and 6 the first time.

Real Talk Moment

Nothing beats a “failure” except the fact that you tried. And I’ll take trying something new over staying the same any day.

To My Ladies 💕

Thank you to everyone who came out to our April women’s group meetup. Whether we’re 5 deep or 50 deep, the experience is what matters.

What’s Next?

Oh, you already know… we’re not stopping here.

Atlanta is full of hidden gems just waiting to be explored—and Cece in the City is going to find them.

Stay tuned for the next adventure 👀✨
