There’s something special about getting lost in a good book—and this month, our journey took us straight to the heart of Alabama as part of our 50 States Book Club Challenge.
Each month, we’re exploring a new state through literature, and for March, we dove into Death on Eat Street by J. J. Cook—and let me tell you… this one did not disappoint 👀

🍽️ A Cozy Mystery with Southern Flavor
From the very first chapter, this book pulled me in. Set against a charming, food-filled backdrop, Death on Eat Street delivers everything you want in a cozy mystery—small-town vibes, unique characters, and just enough suspense to keep you turning the pages late into the night.
And yes… there’s a murder 👀
What made this read even more fun was how it tied into the Alabama theme. The laid-back atmosphere, the sense of community, and the food culture all gave it that Southern feel that just fits.
⭐ Cece’s Review: 4/5
I gave this one a solid 4 out of 5 stars ⭐
✨ What I loved:
- The cozy, easy-to-follow storyline
- The food truck theme (had me craving snacks the whole time 😭)
- Characters that felt real and relatable
👀 A small note:
- A few moments were a bit predictable—but honestly, it didn’t take away from the enjoyment
⏱️ A Quick, Addictive Read
Now let’s talk about how fast I flew through this book…
I finished it in just two days—and if you know me, that means it had me hooked. This is one of those reads you pick up “just for a chapter” and suddenly you’re halfway through like… okay wait 😭

💻 Book Club Vibes
One of my favorite parts of this journey is bringing everyone together. Our Cece Book Club meets once a month on Zoom, and it’s always such a good time connecting, sharing thoughts, and hearing different perspectives on the story.
