The wait is over—today is the day! The FIFA World Cup has officially kicked off, and if you’re anywhere near Atlanta, you can already feel the excitement in the air.
From packed hotels and busy restaurants to fans wearing jerseys from all over the world, the city is buzzing. And let’s be honest… with all these visitors coming to town, Atlanta traffic is about to become an Olympic sport of its own! 🚗😂
But that’s part of the fun.

As someone who loves exploring everything this city has to offer, you already know I couldn’t sit this one out. Cece in the City is stepping into the FIFA experience! I’ll definitely be out there for a day or two, soaking in the atmosphere, meeting fans, checking out events, and bringing you all along for the ride.
A Little FIFA History
Did you know the first FIFA World Cup was held in 1930 in Uruguay? Since then, it has grown into the biggest sporting event in the world, attracting billions of viewers and uniting countries through one thing—soccer.
What makes soccer so special is its simplicity. All you need is a ball and a little space to play. From neighborhood parks to massive stadiums filled with thousands of cheering fans, the game brings people together unlike any other sport.
And now, Atlanta gets to be part of that global story.
My Soccer Story
I’ll be honest—I need to get more into soccer.
Growing up, football and basketball were usually the sports grabbing my attention. But when my kids played soccer, I gained a whole new appreciation for the game. I loved watching them run up and down the field, learning teamwork, discipline, and determination.
Soccer has a different vibe.
The fans are passionate.
The chants are loud.
The energy is nonstop.
And the crowd experience is unlike anything else.
Whether you’re a lifelong soccer fan or someone like me who enjoys the atmosphere and community surrounding sports, there’s something exciting about being part of an event this big.
Atlanta Is Ready
One thing Atlanta knows how to do is host major events.
From championship games and concerts to festivals and conventions, this city has become one of the country’s premier event destinations. The restaurants are ready. The hotels are ready. The attractions are ready.
And now FIFA has arrived.
The only challenge? The weather.
After weeks of rain, Mother Nature has decided to turn up the heat. 🌞
So if you’re heading downtown, remember:
✔️ Stay hydrated
✔️ Wear comfortable shoes
✔️ Bring sunscreen
✔️ Be patient with traffic
✔️ And most importantly—have fun!
Shout Out to Nappy Roots

One thing I’m especially excited about is seeing some hometown talent represented during the festivities.
The homies, Nappy Roots, will be part of the lineup, and that makes me proud. It’s always great seeing artists from our community continue to shine on big stages.
Atlanta culture, music, sports, and diversity all coming together? That’s what makes this city special.
Cece in the City Is Going In!
You know me—I love covering experiences, meeting people, discovering hidden gems, and showing the heart of a city.
