    Prince

    By: Cece Hymes

When we talk about Prince we talk about a legend that meant so much to the world through his music. Prince was everything: he was a singer, songwriter, musician, producer and more. His style was different and so smooth. Prince sold over 100 million records and some of his awards included Grammy President’s Merit award. The American Music award for Achievement, The Billboard Icon award, Academy award, Golden Globe award, and many more. He was also inducted twice into the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame. Some of my favorite songs by him are:

    ·         Purple Rain

    ·         When Doves Cry

    ·         The Most Beautiful Girl in the World

    ·         Raspberry Beret

    ·         Little Red Corvette

    ·         Kiss

    ·         I Wanna Be Your Lover

Prince Movie Purple Rain was a classic that was one of the biggest films that no one could ever forget. The soundtrack for the film was also big. It’s another feeling and zone when you hear “Purple Rain” and “When Doves Cry”. Prince has a couple of books out. I did get a chance to read two which I learned more about his journey and Life. Did you know Prince first recorded instrumental  titled “The Dawn” a thematic idea that would resurface in his work for decades. The meaning behind “The Dawn” is “A Time of Greater Consciousness and Spiritual Understanding”. Prince was a beast on that guitar.

Just watching some of his shows and going back he puts on a show. He was a genius when it came to music. He wrote music for so many people  and played instruments like no other. He empowered so many people to own their uniqueness, shaping the more diverse, and accepting you for who you are. It’s so much we can say about Prince but one thing is his music speaks volumes and will forever live within us. Here are some of my favorite quotes by him:

    ·         “Every day I feel is a blessing from God. And I consider it a new beginning. Yeah. Everything is beautiful”

    ·         “A strong spirit transcends rules”

    ·         “Art is about building a new foundation, not just laying something on top of what’s already there”

    ·         “To create something from nothing is one of the greatest feelings, and I would -I don’t know, I wish it upon everybody. It’s heaven”

I can’t forget the Prince Estate; it presents Prince’s life and work. You have to look it up and get a view of what was inside. It’s worth millions. There’s so much to say about Prince and what he meant to us. He touched all of us through his music and he is one that will never be forgotten. We never know what people go through and as I said before let’s pray for one another. We have lost so many legends through addictions, depression, and the demons that live within them that they can’t fight off. Thankful for great memories and the great music he left within us. We have to continue to teach our generation what real music is.

Tell me what your favorite memory of Prince is. What was your favorite song by him? Did you check out his books? What did you think about his fashion? Comment and let me know also follow me @Cece. Atl.

    Interview with Fuller French

    By: Where It Begins

    Q. Tell everyone more about who Fuller French is?

    A. Fuller French is a lover of life, somebody who believes there is romance in everything good in the world… and sometimes just a guy from West Texas who plays the piano. I am passionate about everything I undertake; I enjoy creating, learning, living and loving. As a musician, the best thing for me is creating new music that contains plenty of love and romance that hopefully will be heard by many people throughout the world. I’m interested in creating things of substance and beauty. When I was younger, I wanted to create rough, rock and roll bits of music but now I have settled into my own style which is beautiful and dreamy.

    Q. What inspired you to become a singer/songwriter?

    A. I felt a volcano of creativity and ideas that I wanted to share things I wanted to say with the piano. I had an outlet to write lyrics and music and do just that. I took piano lessons from first grade to seventh grade but after that never formally studied again. When I went to boarding school, piano was an escape for me. In college I really went full throttle creating songs, and I began the tune that eventually became my first hit Brazilian Sunrise. The rest is history.

    Q. What do you consider as one of your best life experiences or accomplishments?

    A. I’m a work in progress and that event is yet to come. That said, raising my three children has been the best life experiences anyone could ever imagine: there is nothing that compares to raising them and watching them grow up. There is a love there that is beyond anything else in the world.

    Interview with Kiara Craft

    By: Where it Begins

    Q. Tell us about yourself: who is Kiara Craft?

    A. I am originally from Las Vegas, Nevada raised in Houston Texas. My family has a background in music. Everyone sings. My mother sang lead for a group called “The Platters”. She introduced me and my siblings to music. We married young and didn’t really get to explore our musical paths. But now that we’ve raised our kids, we’re revisiting music and creating a platform for our message on love, relationships, and marriage.

    Q. Let’s get the background of the song “Sophisticated Freak”?

    A. A lot of times people tend to put their cards right out on the table. You see exactly who they are, or who you think they are. So, I’m saying that just because a woman is not marketing her sexuality right off the bat doesn’t mean that she’s not a problem in the bedroom. Looks can be deceiving.

    Q. Who is the artist that influenced your career?

    A. Diana Ross, she is the personification of a pop star. From being a recording artist to a performing artist. She is the prototype and total package. Even my modern-day influences, like Brandy, Beyonce, Mariah Carey have pulled from her blueprint.

    Q. Who would you like to collaborate with?

    A. Definitely, Cardi B.

    Q. How do you feel about women in the music industry and how men do not take them seriously enough unless they are passive. What is your observation on it?

    A. I’ve had to deal with push-back, but not a lot. I come to the table to do business, and I refuse to let my gender be treated as a negative or a limitation. Also, I have the right people on my team.

    Interview with Chanel B

    By: Where it Begins

    Q. Who is Chanel B?

    A. I am a singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, actress and CEO of my own record label and entertainment company here in Atlanta, GA. I also have some other things in the works right now and lately I’ve been on the road with Meka- Nicole with “For Colored Girls Only”.

    Q. What got you into singing?

    A. My family did. My great grandmother Ruby who passed in 89 was an amazing singer, My Pops Lorenzo would sing in his Soprano voice around Christmas time he would sing “Silent Night” by the temptations. So, I guess you can say that’s where I get my singing from.

    Q. What made you come up with the song “Knowing”?

    A. We find ourselves in relationships where we have hurt one another a lot of times. We know the truth, some stay, some leave & some just know.

    Q. Tell us about London Records?

    A. London Records is my baby, of course I’m the first artist on my label and eventually I will be adding artists and anyone in the entertainment industry I feel that fits London Records. I can’t wait to bring all of what we have to offer now and futuristically to the world.
